40 BANDS/80 MINUTES

L.A. Underground Noisepunkexperimentalcore documentary 40 Bands/80 Minutes is not only really well done, but a genius idea from director Sean Carnage.  Giving 40 different musical acts 2 minutes each allows L.A. itself to be defined as a scene, rather than have anyone band go into detail and discovering what they are all about.

HEALTH, Wives (later to become No Age), Anavan, I Heart Lung, Abe Vigoda,  ect.  "The Smell" scene collides here with extreme experimental underground to herald a performance ranging from free jazz to dub and everything in between.  L.A. is fast, uncontrollable, and hard to explain, but this format works pretty well.
