12 Rods
Ohio has spat out many groups such as Devo and Guided by Voices, but few are as technically advanced as 12 Rods. the group released an EP and a full length in 1996 and 1998 respectively. The 6 track Gay? contains sterile, south-western, airport indie rock. It combines ambience, with very active drums. Lead singer Ryan Alcott sounds a bit robotic as he sings nonchalantly over the transparent, clean guitar. It's mathy, its soothing, it feels like they don't care. Love the 12 Rods! In 2000 they began boasting Bad Plus drummer Dave King for live performances.
